“Where is it?!”

The harsh, amplified voice brought Gobai out of her stupor. She looked up into the menacing face of a matte black tactical helmet.

“Where?!” it repeated, its voice full of rage.

“W-who are you?” she asked.

“If you do not tell me where the mechanized armor unit is, my associate will pull your head from your body,” a new, calmer voice said. She looked over and saw another of the black-clad troopers staring at her. “You do not want that, do you? Where is the human machine and its pilot? We have that, we leave you alone.”

“It's that way,” Gobai gestured vaguely in a direction opposite from the maintenance bay.

“Now, now…we both know that isn't true. There's nothing that way. We've just come from there. One more chance, my dear.”

“Who are you?”

“This is getting us nowhere,” the one holding her growled.

“Agreed,” the calm one said. “Do what you must, just try not to enjoy it as much as last time. It's getting a little disturbing.”

Gobai's eyes widened in fear as her tormentor pulled out a curved combat blade and jammed it into her chest. The helmeted demon held her while she thrashed in agony, never turning away. A lifetime of regret and loss raced through her thoughts as her brain shut down. After everything, for it to end like this…it just wasn't fair.
